Pocket Conquest

From the live product · pocket-conquest.vercel.app

Pocket Conquest (developed as Pocket Wars) is a compact 1v1 strategy game set on a miniature kingdom. Each turn you take two actions: move distinct army pieces, capture forts, recruit reinforcements, or play a card that changes the situation.

The challenge

Strategy games often ask for hours of setup and learning. The goal was a match that fits in 5 to 20 minutes, with combat predictable enough that plans are readable, and cards that add just enough surprise.

What I built

  • Two-action turns that combine territorial control with chess-inspired unit tactics.
  • Tactical power-up cards: combat is predictable, card draws provide the randomness.
  • Play against a bot, challenge a friend online, or share one screen.
  • A learn mode with rules, practice and card trials.
  • Online leaderboards with match standings and a daily crown.
  • Runs in the browser, with no signup required to play.

Key decisions

“I can see their plan, but I have one card that might turn this around.”

That’s the feeling the rules are tuned for. You win by earning points at forts or capturing the opposing capital, so every turn trades expansion against defense.
